Teaboy Games are delighted to announce the new Colchester Roman Circus App, commissioned by Signals Media Arts Centre and created with young people aged 11 to 25. Within the app are three unique audio stories exploring how the Circus affected the lives of Roman Colcestrians, from a lowly stable boy to a wealthy noblewoman. The app, which is free to download for both iOS and Android devices, is the culmination of all the hard work and imagination of the young people who have attended Signals’ workshops throughout the summer of 2016 – celebrating both Colchester’s amazing heritage and the creativity of the young people living in Colchester today. Workshops included animation, sound design and creative writing with the young people learning both new skills and more about Roman Britain via creating the app’s content. The app is part of Signals ‘Dig Deeper’ project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund – Young Roots. Thanks to National Lottery players, the Heritage Lottery Fund invest money to help people across the UK explore, enjoy and protect the heritage they care about.

Explore Roman Colchester and become a charioteer in our Roman Circus racing game! Take the reigns of your own chariot and smash your opponents to bits in our arcade racer, or discover the life of Roman Britains and learn how the Circus affected their lives, from a lowly stable boy to an illustrious noblewoman! The app features beautiful artwork, gory sound effects and creative writing – all created with young people between 11 and 25 in Colchester, England.
